Every four years the entire World set their eyes on one great sporting event where Nations have 90 minutes and 100 yards of battle ground. Sweat, tears and blood are shed on these fields but the outcome of these battles comes a feeling that few have felt. And that is, being World Cup Champions. EA Sports brings that same excitement home in 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa.

Take control of your favorite Nation and start your journey to becoming the World Champions. Will you play as Italy and take the crown again like in the 2006 FIFA W.C.? Or will you play as an underdog and prove yourself to the world that your team has what it take to be World Champions. In 2010 FIFA World Cup mode you do just that! Start of in the qualifiers and take them all the way to the finish. But if your team does not have what it takes to make it all the way, just as in the real thing, you will be disqualified and the World Cup will be no more. Lets avoid that from happening. You can chose to begin your journey by simply starting a quick game with any two teams of your choosing in order to get your skills up to par.

In 2010 FIFA W.C. you also have a choice of button configurations. Where the more veteran players will keep the default setting that allows you to use advance techniques. Or the 2 button configuration where simply put, you can pass or shoot the ball with just two buttons. This set up would be for those new to the FIFA series.

Lets talk about the atmosphere. From the streamers and confetti on the ground, to the roars of the crowd, or hearing the Anthem of your favorite Nation as your team takes the filed- it really ties you in and you know you are ready for a good time. The cut scene to the crowd as they cheer and wearing the colors of your team was a really nice touch to the game. Plus the close ups of players when they are in celebration after scoring is also well done.

A few additions that stand out and make the difference in between its predecessor FIFA '10 are well worth it. For instance, a fine tuned penalty kick system which adds more user control to the penalty kick . Keep your composure with the slider meeter and use the analog stick to target your kick. On the other side of the coin, you also have more control for blocking the penalty kick. Have your goal keeper dive early or wait a second longer and try to see the kickers intentions as you dive to make the save at the last possible moment. Having difficulties with taking or blocking penalty kicks? Make sure to see our tutorials

I really enjoyed playing Captain Your Country or CYC as you will see in the menus. In this mode you have he choice to create a player, play as a real player, or load a previously created player from FIFA 2010. In CYC, you start a a low ranked player and your goal is to become the Captain of your team. Do this by winning and completing Vp objectives to increase up the ladder towards that captain seat.

Not happy with previous real qualifications events? IN FIFA W.C. you have the opportunity to change the outcome in Story of Qualifying. As you gain points throughout the SoQ, eventually you will be able to unlock the 2006 FIFA World Cup Finals in Germany where Italy took the CUP....you now can change that, will you?

With this years World Cup right around the corner, you might want to check out Story of the Finals which go LIVE on June 11, 2010. Once the World Cup begins in South Africa, new games based on the events happening there, will be available to download and play. With over 50 scenarios and challenges ranging from the qualifiers to the 2006 World Cup, this mode will have you coming back for more.

From a challenging four player co-op, to a competitive game online with 199 teams to choose from, or working your way up to Captain of your team and eventually changing the past in Story of Qualifying and Story of the Finals. 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa is a must buy for any soccer fan. I know I am hooked!
